February President's Message

Where did January go?

Happy February…the month of valentines and love…and chocolate, too.

The older I get the faster the calendar moves…and each day should be spent being happy and loving your work.  As women business owners, we can all say that we have made the choice to control our own lives, work, and happiness.  Love what you do and where you work!

We are on the countdown to two exciting events this year for NAWBO: Visionary in July and then our National Women's Business Conference to be held right here in Columbus, Ohio in September.  Watch for the details and book early because we are gearing up for the best convention yet!

Our Round Table meeting on January 21st went very well and had great attendance. The committee is reviewing all applications and will be forming the new groups…plus adding to existing groups.  As we said in our meeting, the key to successful roundtables is Forming, Storming, Norming and Performing, and that does take time.  The success we have seen from group accountability and individual support is amazing.  This is one place that you, as the owner/visionary of your company, can have a very supportive audience that cares about YOU!

Our committees are looking for good people to continue on their hard work.  Think about where your interests are and how you can get involved.

Programming? What would you like to hear about at our luncheons?

Membership? Do you know women business owners that would benefit from NAWBO?

Public Policy? Have you met your local governmental officials?

Visionary Event? Help plan the party! It is our biggest fundraiser!

Roundtables? Help form the groups or add your expertise to the variety of ideas for round tables!

Communication? Are you getting the word of what is going on in YOUR NAWBO today?

Corporate Partners? Help us find companies that value and want to support women-owned businesses.

And of course Finance!  The bottom line of any business – how we make money and keep the momentum!

By getting involved you will gain so many new relationships and value for your membership.  Relationships build trust and trust builds referrals and from there business will come your way…so get started today!

Happy Valentine’s Day,

Darla King
